For starters, MFM analyzed the urology group’s business and billing practices, looking for ways to help the client improve cash flow. MFM subsequently conducted an extensive fee analysis in order to make sure that charges adequately covered contract allowances.

After developing a comprehensive, custom plan for improving the client firm’s billing services, MFM began implementing key elements of the plan. Very quickly, the new initiatives made a difference. Among other improvements, MFM helped the practice achieve:

  • Quick, accurate coding of all surgeries performed
  • 24-hour turnaround on billing of office and hospital services
  • Aggressive, effective pursuit of denials and unpaid claims
  • Enhanced procedures for cash payment follow-ups
  • Assertive upfront collections of deductibles and coinsurance prior to surgery

In just three short months, MFM delivered significant measurable improvements, increasing cash collections by 13 percent and net collection percentage by 16 percent while slashing AR turnover by three full days.

Since that initial period, MFM has continued to achieve strong results on the client’s behalf, driving up both cash flows and collection percentages. The urology group has been very pleased with MFM’s overall contribution to the practice’s success.
